Wood and Stain Type
Porous woods absorb more stain. Previously stained or sealed surfaces absorb less.
Solid stains cover more like paint. Transparent stains penetrate deeper and cover less area per gallon.
Weathered wood absorbs more stain. Previously stained surfaces may need less.
