A good starting point is one tail per inch of board width. More tails creates a finer, more traditional look.
Dovetail Angle
1:8 ratio (7 degrees) for hardwoods. 1:6 ratio (9.5 degrees) for softwoods and pine.
Half pins at each edge are traditional and provide a clean finished look.
