Quartersawn wood moves about half as much as flatsawn. Riftsawn falls in between.
Moisture Content
Green lumber is typically 19-30% MC. Kiln dried is 6-8%. Interior equilibrium is typically 6-8% in heated spaces.
Different species have different shrinkage coefficients. Oak and maple move more than pine or cedar.
