Calculate how many stitches to cast on for any knitting project based on your gauge and desired finished width.
Your Gauge
Always swatch before calculating. Measure gauge over at least 4 inches and divide by the number of inches.
Finished Dimensions
Ease adjusts the cast-on for how fitted you want the finished piece. Negative ease makes it slightly smaller for a snug fit.
Pattern Details
Ribbing uses 2-stitch repeat. Many cable patterns use 4, 6, or 8 stitches. Cast-on must be a multiple of the repeat.
Selvedge or border stitches are added outside the pattern repeat. Enter the number for each side.
